Belleville’s Police Chief is raving about the 2011 crime stats annual report.

At yesterdays’  Police Board meeting, Chief Cory McMullan told officials they’d seen a 13.7-percent decrease in reported crimes from 2010 to 2011.

In total, 15-hundred fewer crimes occurred.

McMullan added the city saw a significant decrease in the severity of crimes.

For 2010, MacLean’s Magazine dubbed Belleville, the most dangerous city in Ontario.

McMullan says that title certainly would not apply last year.
