Who’s more to blame, the doctor for refusing treatment or the parents for not immunizing their kid?

Another pair of parents who blame everything on others. You want your daughter to be healthy but refuse to get her needles? Then blab to the papers?

It isn’t the child’s fault that her parents neglected her! Help the child!

You refuse to immunize your child against diseases, but you expect doctors to do everything in their power to help them? Isn’t that kind of backwards thinking?

The reason children have such a low mortality rate compared to what it was years ago, is because of the immunizations!! If parents chose not to vaccinate themselves; OK. But to risk your childrens’ lives; inexcusable! The doctor has every right to refuse to treat them!

My son was unable to have vaccinations due to an egg allergy.

If he had ever been refused care, It would have been a lawsuit.

I had a school official give me a hard time once about it but that was it.

Vaccines have risks and you cannot be refused schooling for not having vaccinations. That is a myth. There are many children in our schools who are not “immunized”.
The safety and efficacy of vaccines is highly questionable. Have you read a single vaccine insert? The listed risks are autism, SIDS, neurological disorders, seizures, apnea etc., etc.

A parent does have a right to choose and apparently so does the doctor. That isn’t the doctor I would want providing care for my child anyway.

People who refuse vaccines are not neglectful. They are almost always the only parents who make an informed choice. How many parents who choose to vaccine have read all of the package inserts and spent months or years toiling over the risks vs. benefits, studies etc.? Some, but very few.

Pseudoeducated rants take us nowhere as a society. If we went on risks alone nobody would ever take tylenol, vitamins and even water (excess water can cause cerebral edema )

Food and drug safety agencies make it mandatory to report patient reported side effects, before full investigation of whether and to what extent the drug alone was to blame. After it is put up as a side effect it becomes impossible to remove despite all evidence

It really bothers me that people who do not have the training to see flaws in studies are not only allowed to voice their oppinions in a public manner, but often go out of their way to be very vocal about it. I guess that is why ignorance is bliss – or possibly a psychiatric illness

There is no conspiracy people, just your delusional and paranoid brain. Moreover it would have been delusional even if you didnt take the aspirin,

I am very happy that our society has chosen to let you, for the most part, live freely with your delusions. However what are we to do when those delusions start to affect the safety and health of others

Upper middle class = just enough education to find potential dangers, but not enough to understand or know how to weigh the risk / benefit equation or to see design flaws in studies

Secondly, are any of you pro vaccine people aware of the fact that the DTap vaccine states quite clearly on it’s product insert that it CAN cause autism and SIDS?

Has anyone here (pro vaccine) EVER taken the time to look at the ingredient lists of these vaccinations? Highly doubtful that you have.

Did any of you know that the shingles vaccine ‘sheds’ ? Which means you can get shingles from someone who had the vaccine. It sheds for 30 days. Nice eh? Same thing happens with any live vaccine….polio shot, flu shot..you name it.

About chicken pox vaccine. Back in the 50′s mothers used to have chicken pox parties. If one child got the pox, moms brought all their kids over to play with the infected child. Smart moms! Today we give kids chicken pox vaccines which in a lot of cases don’t ‘take’ the first time so more shots are required. Now, if you are an adult who had chicken pox as a child and you care for a child NOW that has chicken pox, caring for that child serves as a little ‘natural’ booster shot to you so that you will not get shingles as you’re older. HOWEVER, because we now give chicken pox vaccine to kids, there are very few adults caring for kids with the pox. This has resulted in MORE ADULTS being diagnosed with shingles than ever before. Hmmm. Worth thinking about. Then there’s these kids who have been vaccinated now. What of them in the future? Should they get teeter tests every year to keep them protected? What if they don’t when they’re grown? What are chicken pox like in an adult who’s never had them before? Not pleasant.

To all to say these parents are fools….do some research and stop being spoon fed.

and what of people that ohhhh I don’t know….jump out of planes for no good reason other than the thrill of it all. Lets imagine their parachute just didn’t open and they plummet it earth. Going by the reactions here, I’d say most of you would agree that this person also should not be treated because they knew the risks they were taking when they jumped out of a perfectly good airplane. Lets get real here.

To suggest that they are “almost always the only parents who make an informed choice” is rude. I made an informed choice without reading all of the package inserts. I made an informed choice without spending “months or years” toiling over the risks/benefits. My information comes from a medical professional who I trust completely – who answers all of my questions – who showed me medical evidence that the vaccinations are safe and most importantly, who went to school for many years to gain knowledge on the subject. I’d much rather learn from him than from the internet.

@Michelle: Doctor’s couldn’t have vaccines available unless they knew they were safe. One of my best friends is a biologist and she tells me all the time. If a vaccine makes a child have SIDS or Autism (there’s a whole other conversation), it’s just triggering what is going to happen anyways. It’s all genetic, and I’m sorry for your children because of the risk you ARE putting them in, not the risk they face without the vaccines.

I’m not well versed in vaccines and I’m not sold that they always work but I’m not against them either.

I can understand a hospital telling them to take their child to another doctor. A hospital is full of disease that vaccines claim to protect from. So in theory the child is put at risk being there.

Aside from that though I remember applying for college and reading the letters that said if I didn’t have updated vaccinations I would not be allowed to attend the college.
What happens in the child’s future for contracts like this?

I personally feel the doctor should have gave the child care however he or she was well within their right to refuse care, the parents have refused to take the advice of the experts of medicine thus far so it really shouldn’t surprise them when a person in the profession of medicine refuses them. As for the parents not vaccinated their children well that also within their right do I agree? Absolutely NOT!, I think the cons far out way the pros, we can’t bubble wrap our children and yes there are studies that link the vaccines to illnesses but there also studies that link not being vaccinated to illnesses that are extremely deadly. I think that health canada should step in here and make vaccinating mandatory, I would not expose my child to a child that was not vaccinated because that’s my choice, and I honestly think the parents feel they are making the right decision but its careless irresponsible and a shame that they have the right to refuse their child’s health requirements there are religious groups that refuse to give their children blood transfusions however the children’s aid society has had to step in and lookout for the child and I wish they would step in with these parents has well because its the children’s safety at risk.

Does anybody else remember how the man who claimed immunizations caused autism was DISCREDITED? Also, blaming vaccinations on SIDS is ridiculous. The fact is, we don’t know exactly what causes SIDS and that’s what makes it so frustrating. We do know that exposure to smoke and stomach sleeping increases risks, but that’s about it! People who refuse to vaccinate their children are making a decision that unfortunately their children will have to live with. The parents who have their children vaccinated are NOT uneducated/spoonfed for doing so. Every single health professional I have ever encountered has been all for vaccinations and felt that it is the only responsible thing to do. Are you to tell me that they are not well educated people? What makes your opinion and Yahoo articles more credible than someone with a phD? Just because somebody doesn’t share your personal belief does not make them a moron. I’m sure any parent who had to watch their child die as a result of meningitis would regret not having their child vaccinated!

I recently read a story on Baby Center about a young mother who returned to work when her daughter was just a newborn (unable to be vaccinated until 2 months). One of the other children in the daycare, a 4 year old, was not vaccinated. He had whooping cough, and gave it to the newborn baby. The 4 year old lived thank goodness, but the newborn baby died. This is completely unfair and could have been avoided by a quick and easy needle! It’s for reasons such as these, that the doctor refused to give this little girl medical care, and while I absolutely feel for her, I can see why he had to make such a tough decision the way he did.

I vaccinated my kids after much reading and debating. After all, in daycare they swap spit and you can’t control that. I think much depends on what parents have seen. Those who have seen a vaccine injury may favour no vaccinations compared someone who has seen a vaccine preventable illness do real harm, or someone with an immunocompromised loved one. Right now there is no law stating that children must be immunized. And just for the record, kids without immunizations can attend schools and daycares; they are unable to attend if there is an outbreak.
I know healthy adults who have never been vaccinated, but I also know enough people who rely on the “herd immunity” provided by vaccines to stay alive. Either way, the point here is that the kid was turned away because she wasn’t immunized. It’s a choice, it’s not mandatory, parents are not obligated to follow the immunization schedule. You would think that all health care providers know their immunity status. Here in Ontario health care is supposed to be accessible to everyone.

and another FYI….the form required for parents to fill out is right on the MInistry of Health website for parents to print off. Once this is signed by the parents it is kept on file with the health unit and the children cannot be refused entry into school so those of you who says schools can refuse entry you are very wrong. it is totally the parents choice if their children are vaccinated..our government has set the laws that way therefore they have no right to refuse a child medical care when parents are only exercising their rights that our government have set out….as well those of you who say the parents are negligent..can u name off all the ingredients in the vaccines and the potential side affects of each one..the ones who are negligent are the parents who go ahead and stick their kid with a vaccine without even knowing what is in it…just as an example here are some of the contents and dangers

This doctor is guilty of denial of help. Even if others before him had denied help to the child, that doesn’t waive his own responsibilities.

Without a doubt the issue with vaccines is whats in them as the list above shows. Knowingly injecting these things into your child during their first 5 to 6 yrs of life is pure stupidity if you haven’t done your homework. These kids get a total of approx 115 or so ‘vaccines’ with more than 2 or 3 and sometimes more all mixed together for one single shot, time and time again. If your child has a reaction you can bet your bottom dollar you’ll be told it ‘wasn’t the vaccine’. BULL! Is it pure coincidence that your child was fine one day and not the next? Everyone here to is so ‘for’ vaccines obviously hasn’t had a child who had a reaction. I hope you never do, but if your grand children do, you will remember this thread and you will remember being told to do your homework. You’ll regret you didn’t.
