Extortion charges laid in Quinte West

A joint investigation between Belleville Police and Quinte West OPP on Saturday has led to extortion charges.

Both police forces were looking into a possible abduction after being told a woman was being held against her will.

Officers were led to Frankford, where the O-P-P’s Emergency Response Team and K-9 units helped with the investigation.

Two unidentified suspects, a man and a woman, were arrested,  charged with extortion and have a bail hearing in Belleville.

The Quinte West OPP Crime Unit is still investigating and looking for information from the public.
