The C-A-W is calling on Premier Dalton McGuinty to put an immediate hold on the withdrawal of slot machines from Ontario’s racetracks.
The union says the threatens to wipe out the province’s horse racing and breeding industry and throw 55 thousand people out of work.
C-A-W president Ken Lewenza says the government shouldn’t be taking a step that will ruin people’s lives and harm the whole economy.
Lewenza notes that the horse racing and breeding industry directly contributed more than 2.3 billion dollars to the Ontario economy in 2010.

Windsor Raceway’s handle was averaging about $250,000.00 per night along with the slots. Why did they remove the slots when tracks like Sudbury Downs was averaging $5,000.00 a night but the slots are still operating.Does that make any sense. It appears to me that Caesars put the pressure on the government to close Windsor down. What a shame
