Very sad news.
Life is a curious thing.
My families prayers are with this child’s loved ones and this unfortunate driver.
I don’t know the parties involved, but as a mother and a grandmother, my heart aches for them.
prayers and condolences to the family of the child and for the poor driver :(
I am terrified of this happening, having a 5 year old. Paranoia! I never let my daughter leave the car unless I am there to meet her, and we hold hands in the parking lot. Too many people not paying attention now-adays — everyone is in such a hurry!
My condolences and prayers to the families involved.
What a huge loss. People have to be more carefull. Where were the childs parents ?
Where were the parents, Why was she out at that time and in a parkinglot.
@JB, its not always ‘not paying attention’, a child that young is so very hard to see when you are trying to back up and park. It is a horrible situation for both parties… prayers towards the situation.
Until, and if, the whole story is released, no one is in any position to pass any judgement on the parties involved. This is an absolute heartbreaking loss for the child’s family and for the community. My heart goes out to this poor child’s family.
Kids are curious and all it takes is a bathroom break for them to sneak out the door. It could happen to anyone. Lets not pass judgement; instead prayers for the family and the driver who are going through the worst time of their lives.
@Vee: Understandably, it may not be the drivers fault – perhaps the child just wanted to get a toy that was dropped.. My statement of not paying attention was said in a way that was more generalized, but I didn’t state it in such a fashion. I was just making an observation of how many rush, text, and talking on their cell while driving. Much like having 16 accidents from just a few minutes of rain the other day.
It is absolutely a tragic occurrence on both behalves.
If you read more articles on this you will see that officers still don’t yet know where the parents were at the time of the incident. A 2 year old… with absent parents (at least that’s what some articles are saying) sounds like a recipe for disaster. I honestly can’t fathom not knowing where your 2 year old is, a child that young has no chance to fend for themselves. This really is starting to sound like I’m judging but I can’t get my head around a parent being comfortable with their toddler going off on their own to play. Now If the parents had just parked and the child simply got away from them its understandable but I’m not sure police would be asking for the public’s help or saying they haven’t yet pieced together where the parents were at the time of the incident if that were the case. This is a tragic story, and hearing it was an SUV that hit the child makes it even more sad because if it were a smaller car closer to the ground, the driver may have had a chance of seeing the poor child and avoided impact. No matter who’s at fault this is a terrible loss. My heart goes out to both parties involved.
JB i don’t think you passed judgement, just stating a fact… I see children walking 10 or more feet of parents either in front or behind because they are texting or just not holding their hands as well. it’s not just people in cars that need to be careful pedestians and cyclists too people around here for some reason drive like maniacs evidence as you said being the 16 accidents just from rain really sad situation.
So for everyone making comments about who’s fault, maybe stop and think that the family could be reading this. This is a terrible, terrible thing and the parents must be devistated. Let’s focus on that instead of analysing the whole situation? The driver must be devistated as well.
Rip poor sweet boy and may the family have strength during this awful time.
People that pass judgement without even knowing exactly what happened are very cruel and rude the family must be going through pure hell and don’t need to be blamed for this, I remember when my son was 4 years old and we went to a park and he took off on me and the police and I looked for him for a half hour and finally found him, and i had just turned my head for a sec to answer someone and luckily he found my daughter and I was so relieved that he was ok so don’t be to quick to judge someone because you never know if it may hit your house or the house of your best friend. I think the parents are going through enough hell they don’t need to be reminded of what happened
UNless you were at the scene, you have 0 right to pass judgement or even ask where the parents were. Even if you have a two year old, and pay constant attention, you should still be mature enough to understand that accidents happen. Give it a break, losers
