The books in Northumberland County look good.
A report from Northumberland County council shows that the County ended 2011 with a 2.6 million dollar operating surplus.
That was put into reserve accounts.
The surplus resulted from increased revenues from the provincial government, and reduced expenses in departents such as winter control.
Northumberland County’s debt levels are well below the limits imposed by the provincial government.
