Military collection graces Madoc shelves

A unique collection of more than 1000 military history books, technical journals and photographs is now available at the Madoc Public Library.

The extensive new collection was put on display Saturday in the military history section of the library.

The items were donated by avid researcher and collector 95-year-old Dr. Charles Godfrey of Madoc.

Godfrey says he wants the items to stay in Madoc because it’s the hometown of two memorable veterans, Victoria Cross medal holder John Weir Foote and Colin Scott Dafoe, whose stories are included in the collection.
