Jobs to be lost at HPE Health Unit

A restructuring of staff at the Hastings Prince Edward Health Unit continues.

Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Richard Schabas, sent an email to all staff and board members this week outlining some staff changes.

Dr. Schabas would not comment on who lost their jobs, but said fewer than 10 people were involved, both union and non union.

Dr. Schabas said the latest moves come as part of an ongoing restructuring in how the Health Unit operates because of provincial government budget restraints.

He says costs are rising more then revenues, and that has to be controlled somehow.
