Frankford arena’s green roof on hold

The solar panels on the roof of the Frankford Arena will be going up once some engineering plans get approved.

Quinte West manager of facilities, Danny Young, says once the engineers tell them if the arena’s structure needs to be reinforced, adaptations can be made and a 200kW system can be installed.

The city has signed a contract with Realflex Holdings Ltd. of Montreal.

The $1.3 million investment will generate enough green energy revenue to pay for itself in eight years.
