With such extreme heat and humidity, local municipalities are inviting residents to official cooling stations.
Cooling stations have been set up by Quinte West, Belleville and Centre Hastings at facilities offering air-conditioning and water.
Today’s forecast high is in the low 30s and staff meteorologist, Kevin Williams, says the Humidex factor will make it feel like the 40-degree Celcius range.
The following locations have been identified as official cooling centres:
The Municipality of Centre Hastings (1) Kiwanis Centre (139 St Lawrence Street, East in the village of Madoc) (2) Huntingdon Veteran’s Hall (11379 Hwy 62 in Ivanhoe) on June 20th from 10:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and on June 21st from 10:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
The city of Belleville at Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre (Wally Dever Arena), 265 Cannifton Rd. 9am – 9pm Wednesday and Thursday
The city of Quinte West at city hall, 8:30am – 8pm through Friday, with the exception of Thursday, when it will close at 6pm

What? Is Tweed to stuck up to care and not offer a cooling station?
@bob: Go visit Elvis – he’s a cool guy ;-)
Why is there only one in belleville? The sports center is on a side of town that doesn’t have as much foot traffic… why not spots on north front, front, sidney, brige, or dundas? most businesses dont want you loitering just because they have a/c
Doesn’t really matter if they have 1 cooling station in the center of Quinte West (Trenton)… I like many others won’t be able to get to it without putting myself at risk. Even if I took a bus I’d be standing outside in the heat for who knows how long as the buses in this town are a complete joke and are always either early so u miss it and have to sit around for another hr or 2 depending on the route… or it comes late so ur standing outside in the heat anyway.
