The Belleville Racetrack Development Corporation is unlikely to put a casino on Bell Blvd.
Project head Graham Simmonds says his company’s focus is horse-racing, not casinos.
Simmonds says the priority for his company right now is to figure out how best to salvage its investments in the horse-racing industry; investments like the property on Bell Blvd.
Simmonds says his company will most likely sell its property to try to recoup some of the money they’ve already invested in Belleville. He says there are lots of interested purchasers coming forward.
Simmonds’ comments come in response to an announcement from Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation that it would not be giving anymore subsidies to Ontario’s racetracks through the Slots-at-Racetracks programme.
