Call Centre withers away

The last couple of dozen employees of a once bustling call centre operation in downtown Belleville will be walking away from their jobs for good in mid-July.

A report in the Intelligencer says the last 26 employees of Teleperformance, Global Customer Relationship Management will finish work at their Century Place location on July 19th.

The company cannot afford to lease such a large space for such a small number of employees.

At one point a few years ago, operating as Multi Channel Communication, there were around 700 people working at the Century Place call centre.
