High speed internet is getting closer to a reality for the rural Quinte region.
Members of the Eastern Ontario Wardens Caucus put forward a$170, 000, 000 project proposal to ensure more than 90-percent of people living outside of cities can get faster internet.
Spokesperson Lisa Severson says The Quinte area should have the rural high speed internet by the fall.
Several communities including the Prescott area have already been brought online.
66-towers in the Quinte area will carry the signal which can provide a connection of up to ten megabytes per second.

I’ve been overly critical of Xplornet and their infrastructure in the past, but these new towers really are a step in the right direction. I’ve been using their new service for over a month now with zero complaints. The speeds and connection are far more reliable than any of their previous versions. So long as Xplornet doesn’t massively over-subscribe the towers to the point that each customer is severely impacted this will be a great improvement over what theyhave
