A number of charges have been laid against a young driver from Madoc.
Central Hasting’s O-P-P stopped a car going 176 kilometres per hour in an 80 zone at 11:30 last night.
Police also found the 17-year old driver had been consuming alcohol.
The driver was charged with having a blood alcohol level over zero with a G-2 license… as well as stunt driving.
He’s lost his car and license for at least 7 days… it could be longer depending on what happens at his court date at the end of this month.

he should lose his liscence for more then 7 days he still has a G2 he should lose it for the remaining amount of years before he gets his G so he has no choise but to start over and get his G1 ….way to young for this crap should be charged for drinking under age as well…… penalties need to be much stiffer if anyone is going to take drinking and driving seriously .
I agree that a 7 day suspension and vehicle seizure seems to be a ‘slap on the wrist’ for some. The 7 days should be increased to a 30 day suspension, and then increased to 90 days for repeat offences.
Even when he does get his licence back, no insurance company in their right mind would want to insure him when they see those tickets. Its kids like this that give us young drivers a bad reputation regardless of our drivers abstract…and as a result, we are paying ridiculous money for insurance.
Belleville and area, is notoriously well-known for it’s leiniency concerning drinking and driving. Our officers try to do their job but are thwarted and discouraged by the justice meted out to the offenders. We need to get some of ‘the old boys’ off the bench, in order to tighten up the laws. Alcohol related crimes outside of our area, are dealt with in a much more harshly, deserved manner. Quinte/Belleville area is a disgrace. It’s an absolute embarrassment.
this guys my buddy!
So Bob…are you proud of your ‘buddy’? Or are you going to help him see the error of his ways…before he crashes into some innocent person and kills them? Would he still be your ‘buddy’ then?
