Belleville Police had to intervene in an early morning domestic incident today.
Police were called to a home on Tripp Avenue just after 3:00… where they were told an intoxicated man had struck his wife twice in the face.
He was arrested and taken to the Belleville Police station before being released on a promise to appear.
The 37-year old man… who’s name is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim… is charged with one count of assault.
Police say the victim did not suffer any injuries.

I hope you mean to say the victim did not suffer any serious physical injuries. Domestic violence causes a tremendous amount of both physical and long term psychological pain and suffering to all victims and their families, especially the children. Their lives have been torn apart. It is callous and irresponsible to report otherwise.
Police must put in their report if there was evidence of PHYSICAL injuries. This is what media has access to. Not personal info. Good grief.
It doesn’t need to be personal to realize it is ridiculously insensitive to state a survivor of domestic violence “has no injuries”. Minimization is part of the problem. Good grief is right.
