Teen receives $1000 donation

Posted 1 year ago

Tue, May 8th, '12 - 1:12 pm

A young woman is well on her way to Africa with help from Quinte West council.

Council last night gave Kelsie Sills a donation to assist with her trip through Feed the Children.

Mayor John Williams says council’s decision to donate a thousand dollars to Sills’ trip was based in part on the fact that she applied through the Me to We programme.

Sills must raise $5000 to pay for her three-week trip to Kenya this summer, where she’ll work with other teenagers on water projects.

The 16-year-old will return to Quinte West council chambers to make a presentation upon her return.
