Safe boating week kicks off today

Today is the kick-off for North American Safety Week and the Quinte region will have a celebration of it’s own.

Local officials, guests, the media and politicians will be gathering at C-F-B Trenton’s Yacht Club to kick things off.

Volunteer Co-Ordinator Kathleen Rankine says drinking and boating can be a serious safety hazard.

Wear your life jacket, be prepared, take a boating course and know the risks of cold water are the other four safety concerns officials want to hit home.

The awareness week runs until Friday and today’s event kicks off at eleven.
