A forest fire near Papineau Lake has 6.2 hectares burning but it’s listed as “being held”.
The fire northeast of Bancroft – nicknamed Bancroft 10 - is the closest to the Quinte region of the many burning across Ontario.
The Ministry of Natural Resources says Ontario’s overall fire activity slowed yesterday and there are currently just three fires listed as “not under control”.
The MNR says the Papineau Lake fire is under control by the three crews working on suppression efforts this afternoon.
A municipal official says the area is difficult to get to because it’s in the middle of the bush.
