Norampac is hoping for a successful future at its Trenton mill.
The corporation announced late yesterday that the plant at 300 Marmora St. will remain open and 130 people will keep their jobs.
Norampac president, Marc Andre Depin, says a new contract between the company and the workers’ union was just one of many conditions that will make sure the plant stays open.
Depin calls the agreement with the workers “a vital pre-condition”, adding the company can now concentrate on an action plan for the plant.
Depin says a tough global economy and a high turn-over rate in Trenton are two of the hurdles Norampac must tackle next.

so first they bully their workers to sign a contract they should have had the right to decline as they are in a union ( not to sure what the point of a union is anymore if they can’t protect workers other than take their money) and now they are saying we still may close regardless…. I feel bad for these workers as I am sure they do everything they can to keep the plant running … it must be awful to hear threat after threat they may be losing their great paying jobs. good luck guys
the union should maintain previous salaries until they find these people jobs they killed.
