It appears our local waterways could be managed in a more natural way.
The International Joint Commission is looking at effecting levels at the Mose Saunders Dam near Cornwall, which would change water levels through Lake Ontario and the Bay of Quinte.
Marilyn Buckholtz is with Lower Trent Conservation and says they’re in favour of the change because it will help natural wetlands begin to reproduce.
She adds some are concerned the highs and the lows of the waterways could cause flooding or draught like conditions.
A public meeting is being held on the topic on May 23 at Belleville’s Banquet Centre.
