Northumberland’s Emergency Medical Services is giving a helping hand to the Special Olympics in Kingston at the end of this month.
EMS chief Tarmo Uukkivi says a number of Eastern Ontario paramedic services are involved for the first time.
He says the special Olympics is a not-for-profit organization and by providing the paramedic care the Emergency Services are saving money for the organization.
Uukkivi says each of the participating EMS agencies are dedicated to one event, and Northumberland is sponsor for the “power lifting” event. The paramedics will also be handing out the awards at the end of the four-day event.
