10:15AM UPDATE: All lanes of the 401 have reopened.

The drivers of two tractor trailers were killed in this fiery crash on the 401 on Tuesday afternoon. Photo by Dave Kouri via facebook.
OPP and others remain on the scene of a fiery accident between two big rigs yesterday afternoon on the 401 between Deseronto Road and Highway 37.
The 2 drivers, who are not from the the Quinte area, were killed in the accident.
The 401 westbound, both lanes, remains closed between Highway 49, locally known as the Marysville Road, and the Shannonville Road until sometime this afternoon as the highway is being repaved.
And, only one lane of the 401 eastbound is open. It will likely be completely open sometime later this morning.
OPP say it appears the driver heading east with two big trailers veered into the median smashing into a westbound tractor trailer.
The identities of the drivers have not been released.

Another incorrect story. The 401 closure changed this morning to be westbound from Napanee to Highway 62. Thanks for not providing you listeners with the info they need.
So sad… no matter what happened or whose to blame, all our hearts go out to their families.
Omg is the traffic issue that big of a deal ? If u gotta drive that way take a different route 2 people lost their lives yesterday and all people can do is yap about the traffic woes have a heart people !
It is sad and tragic two people lost their lives on the 401. What is also obvious is how much traffic the 401 handles on a daily basis. Hopefully the cause of this accident can be determined and solutions applied to lessen the chance of a similar occurrence in the future. In the meantime we must all realize that driving on the 401 requires 100% of your attention.
I guess gopher has no clue how much traffic actually travels the 401. Traffic woes… For almost 24 hours transports added 2 or more hours to their travel times by deturing up 41 to 7 and then down 37 or 62. It is a huge deal when the 401 is closed. Sad people died as well. The whole story is big, death and traffic.
You hit it right-on TM,,,, be happy you got home to see your family maybe late but you got there, so styphol it and carry on with your life,
TM – well said. Keep your eyes on the road folks, two hands on the wheel.
That’s right bob I have no idea how much traffic is on the 401 I only have worked in Kingston for the last 6 years and live in Belleville I have seen many serious accident in those years I always pay attention to the news before and after leaving work so I will know if there is a back up traffic woes don’t bother me cause I’m smart enough to listen to the road reports and take a different route and by chance I’m stuck for hours oh well at least I’m getting home safe unlike the people who have been killed and as for truckers having to take a different route and add time to their runs oh well that’s their job
