Update on Norampac situation

Posted 1 year ago

Mon, Apr 16th, '12 - 11:02 am

There’s more to the contract offer rejected by the union at Trenton’s Norampac plant then just wage increases.

The company offered the over 100 unionized workers at Norampac a 2 and a half percent raise in the first year of a 3 year contract….with 2 percent increases in each of the remaining 2 years…

However..sources tell our newsroom…that most union members rejected the offer because of what is being taken away……….thousands of dollars of pay to workers on the night shift.

The company wants to take away shift premiums for those working all night.

That would lead to significant cuts in pay.l

The company also intends to reduce holiday pay contributions from 2 and a half percent..to 2 percent!!

No talks were scheduled over the weekend.
