The Three Oaks women’s shelter in Belleville received more than 1500 calls on its 24-hour-crisis line during the past year.
Twenty percent of these involved women in “immediate crisis” and they received assistance.
The Thee Oaks statistics show that 144 women and 46 children were housed during the year. Executive Director Pam Havery says they stayed for an average of 2 weeks.
Havery says if the shelter is full attempts are made to place women in nearby shelters.
