Richmond Landfill opponents take action

Posted 1 year ago

Wed, Apr 18th, '12 - 1:08 pm

A group of concerned citizens is taking steps toward protecting the property around the old Richmond Landfill.

The Concerned Citizens Committee of Tyendinaga and Environs was on March 30 granted permission to appeal a ruling by the province’s Environmental Review Tribunal and the group has now taken action by submitting to the tribunal their notice to appeal.

A group spokesperson told the Belleville Intelligencer that filing the appeal is the next major step in achieving the group’s goal of having stricter guidelines imposed at the dump site for the protection of the local soil and groundwater.

The Concerned Citizens Committee of Tyendinaga should be worried about how their own land is contaminating their ground water. Has anybody really took a drive around tyendinaga and since how alot of property looks like a dump site for old cars, trucks, buses etc. They are wrecking their own land and water yet their worried about a landfill not even close to them.
