Prince Edward council sets 2012 budget

The final numbers are in and Prince Edward County council has set its budget for 2012.
Ratepayers will see a 5.2% hike on their tax bills as a result of a $58,822,066 budget.
That will mean a hike of $126 on the tax bill of the average homeowner here, the average home being valued at $240,742.
Mayor Peter Mertens says it’s a budget that will help preserve the future of the county.
