Lumber fire in rural Belleville

Belleville’s volunteer firefighters saved a wood fire from being a lot worse on Saturday afternoon.

They arrived to find a pile of lumber on fire at 208 Morgan Road, just north of Bethel Road before 3 o clock Saturday.

They were able to keep the flames from spreading to a nearby shed and tractor trailer filled with lumber.

The cause is under investigation but is not considered suspicious.

Five thousand dollars worth of wood was destroyed.
