At least one member of Hastings County Council thinks the county should divvy-up its federal gas tax in a different way.
Six years ago Hastings County council decided to distribute its portion of the federal gas tax to its member municipalities based on population.
Faraday Reeve Carl Tinney says he’d like to see it changed to assessment or 50:50.
Tinney says some townships would gain and some would lose.
Faraday would gain twice as much money since it has a small population, but there are many cottages valued at about half a million dollars.
Council took no action, leaving it based on population alone.
