The final of four men convicted in the killing of a Mississauga man in Tweed two years ago was sentenced today.
In Belleville court, Brandon Gray received six years in prison for his role in the beating death of Bradley Van Diepen on May 22, 2010, at Trudeau Park. With credit for time already served, it means Gray will spend a little over three more years in prison.
Van Diepen’s two sisters, aunts, and his grandmother and father all read victim impact statements to the court.
One family member told Gray, “I hope you rot in hell.”
In passing sentence, Justice Richard Byers said he took Gray’s past into consideration, which includes several assault-related charges.
Kadeem Francis, Azad Sooknanan and Bernard Rainford were all previously sentenced for their roles in the Victoria Day weekend death.
