Once construction of the new regional courthouse in Belleville is finished officials expect the whole area will change.
P-C-L Constructors’ project manager, Rob McGrath, says the site’s contaminated soil has been remediated and the opening of the courthouse is going to revitalize the whole neighbourhood.
McGrath says in the next couple of weeks they’ll be starting the basement jail cells, among other things. He says the cells will be the first in Ontario to be fronted with glass rather than bars, with detention-grade glass that an individual cannot break.
McGrath says the project is on schedule for completion in spring of next year.
