Assessment Corporation too expensive

Belleville says the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation – MPAC is out of line in its budget increase which municipalities must pay.

Last night City Council supported a motion by Councillor Jackie Denyes to write to Premier Dalton McGuinty and Prince Edward Hastings MPP Todd Smith objecting to the three-point-four percent hike.

Council says the increase is “significant,” wants a “detailed” justification, and to allow “feedback” from the municipalities who must pay half the cost.
