A party-goer that was with Roy Mays the night of his death took the stand today at the Myles Hughes murder trail at the Hastings County building.
Nicholas Gilmour a friend of Michael Robinson was one of the people Robinson called to return to Hughes home the night Roy Mays was shot.
Gilmour had been staying at Robinson’s home with his girlfriend as he was visiting from Burlington at the time. Robinson, who had been staying with his girlfriend that night, called Gilmour and told him he needed help with ‘something’ on Albert St.
Gilmour said that Robinson never detailed what it was he needed help with, but he assumed there was a fight about to occur because of the late night call.
When Gilmour arrived with Robinson at the home of Hughes he and Robinson entered the home last.
They entered the living room of the home to find Mays fighting with someone on the floor, although Gilmour could not see the other man.
Gilmour then heard shots and said he quickly exited the house. He then got into the car and they drove away. Gilmour said he never saw Mays alive again.
The trial will continue with witness testimony this afternoon.
Hughes is facing attempted and second degree murder charges.
