One of the services in Picton that won’t be affected by the municipal budget hearings is the mariners’ museum.
Paul Adamthwaite is the executive director of the Naval Marine Archive on Main St.
He says unlike the other museums struggling to stay open under the weight of budget pressures the mariners’ museum is almost 100% privately funded.
Prince Edward County museums had come into the spotlight when the county’s administrative officer proposed some of them be closed to save money. Those closures were never approved due to public outcry.
