The Campbellford chickens will see another day.
A court appearance by the Bacher family and the municipality of Trent Hills resulted in an April court date for the two parties to meet in Cobourg.
Kelly Bacher says she’s followed the law in keeping a few chickens in her backyard but the municipality says she’s breaking a local by-law.
The story has attracted media attention from across North America.

What a colossal waste of time, resources and money. That some entity even deigned to litigate this speaks of monumental idiocy. Stay tuned for more of it though friends. They know no limits.
Waste of time indeed. Keep your stupid farms in the country. People should be able to enjoy their backyards in the city without hearing and smelling farm animals.
Dear dumbnuts…try to research some facts before making unfounded remarks.
Chickens make less noise than the average next door neighbours dog and emit far less odour than say…said dog doing its business on the next door neighbours lawn. If we followed your school of thought, we’d ban family pets too. I know how offensive the gentle cooing of a half dozen happy little cluckers can be to you when you’d much rather enjoy the sound of carbon choking vehicles to lull you to sleep with. We’re still navigating the ‘smokers gauntlet’ near entrances to buildings yet nobody is monitoring and then enforcing current by-laws regarding this immediate danger.
