Wrecking Ball Swings at Church Today

It’s officially demolition day again in Downtown Picton. For a third time….a demolition crew headed by Belleville’s Jim Sinclair…will attempt to knock down the former Methodist-Episcopal Church on Main Street this morning….more than three weeks after the work began. Sinclair told our newsroom the first order of business, between 8 and 9 this morning will be removing the steeple, piece by piece, with a crane. The Labour Ministry and Prince Edward County stop work orders on the structure were lifted last Thursday. The demolition was halted on August eighth, after the west wall of the church was knocked down, because not all of the required permits were in place.
