Sandbanks Superintendent has 9-1-1 Advice

The Superintendent of Sandbanks Provincial Park says 9-1-1 dispatching problems could be avoided if park personnel are contacted during emergencies.

People helping a woman who nearly drowned at Dunes Beach on Sunday were frustrated because the Kingston-based 9-1-1 dispatcher wanted a specific address.

Don Bucholtz says emergency services are able to respond more quickly when park staff make the 9-1-1 call, because they have detailed information. He says Sandbanks personnel would have called 9-1-1 on Sunday, but the ambulance, delayed because of the dispatcher situation, was already on its way.

Well and good advice from Don — a good man working with what he’s provided from his ministry, budget wise.
However, as our story clearly pointed out there were no parks personnel anywhere close at hand to make that 911 call.
