Chewing Tobacco and Baseball

Four high school baseball teams, in Hastings and Prince Edward counties, are now ‘tobacco-free.” Players at the four schools, Centennial and Nicholson in Belleville, Prince Edward Collegiate in Picton, and St. Paul’s in Quinte West are not allowed to smoke or chew tobacco at games, practices or any time they represent the team. Spokesman Jordan Prosper of the local Health Unit says it’s part of the move to create the “healthiest possible environment.” He says all participants, volunteers, officials, coaches and spectators, do not smoke or chew tobacco at the games.
