I hope this tragedy will shut the weekend party down for good. This weekend bash has gotten way out of control. Far too many goons who have no respect for human life. I hope the family of the decease sue Mr Trudeau and the courts find him civilly responsible.

  2. rory drysdale says:

As someone who was at the park this weekend I disagree fully with the brutal beating that happened. To say it should be shut down and to sue, we all signed wavers saying we new what can happen there and we can not hold the park responcible. problems like this happen every where no matter how unfortunate it is the park is not responcible for the actions of a couple of drunk idiots!

  3. J Hannan says:

Things like this happen anywhere, anytime. I’ve had many good years at Trudeau Park May 24, without incident. In no way should Mr. Trudeau be held responsible, to even suggest that is completely ridiculous. Let the courts deal with the two suspects, and seeya next May 24…Happy Tweed!!

  4. steph zakos` says:

I have also spent a few years at the park myself this kind of thing can happen anywhere trudeau park has been very lucky in the past not to have any incidents like this before.
Hats off to a good job guys!

  5. Shawn says:

Gord Fluke has the typical “not my fault” attitude of today. Let’s sue whoever we can to get money? Get the facts straight before you spout off.
Weekend parties on May 2-4 have been going on for years. There’s always been fights too. The difference this time is that the deceased was attacked by as many as 3 men who gave this person such a beating that they died. How is the part to blame?
Trudeau Park isn’t to blame, it’s the fault of 3 punk cowards.
You’re the same type of person who would sue Tim Horton’s because their coffee is too hot.

  6. Bowman says:

Gord Fluke ur a dip -sh*t

  7. K-Town Girl says:

I have known his GF since I was 12 years old and I have a few things to say.

I hope the people in custody )and if there are more than have yet to be caught) see this.

Think before you have a testosterone moment, because you aren’t as tough as you think you are when you have gang up one someone to get your kicks.

    Here are my thoughts on you in a nut shell;

    1. You’re a disgusting human beings
    2. You are a cowards
    3. I hope this guilt EATS at you for the rest of your miserable life
    4. Where is the switch in your brains that tells you this is wrong? How long have you been able to shut it off?
    5. Where are your parents? How were you raised? How do you feel about the shame you have brought to your family?

There is no excuse and no reason for violent acts like this.

RIP Brad, you will be missed dearly by many, many people.

  8. Deb says:

Gord Fluke is a moron. As someone who lives in the Park and worked this weekend it is absolutely ridiculous to blame the owners or the staff for what happened. Did people demand the Canadian Military be shut down and sued because of Russell Williams?? The idiots that have been arrested and charged are the ones to blame. People get killed on rides at amusement parks every year, should we shut down all amusement parks and fairs and anywhere that has rides?? People slip and fall and die in bathtubs every year, why don’t we shut down the companies that make bathtubs??
Gord Fluke has some seriously flawed logic??

  9. Deeds says:

Gord the only thing intelligent you had to say in your statement is “tragedy”. You are right, an extremely horrific one.

I am a personal friend of the owners of Trudeau Park and let me tell you they are beyond amazing people and work very hard to keep people as safe as they can, can you for one second put yourself in their shoes and see how they are feeling. They dedicate themselves to making it as safe as they possibly can year after year. In NO WAY should anyone blame what happened to this poor man on the owners.
I am truley sorry for what Brad’s family and friends are going through, but no one could have stopped these sick individuals from what they did. It could have happened anywhere and unfortunetly it happened at a place where so many people love to hate.
Have some respect for Brad’s family and for the owners of Trudeau Park, they are human too and in no way taking any of this lightly.
    Give your head a shake.

    RIP Brad.

  10. Jessica says:

I don’t believe that the park can be held responsible for this heinous crime…the responsibility falls squarely on the cowardly shoulders of those who beat Brad to death…I agree with what K-Town girl above has said and pray to god that these “people” come to understand the severity and far reaching impact of there actions…I hope that Brad’s family, his girlfriend and his mother can someday find some shred of happiness in their lives again..and I want to apologize to them for their loss, for their unecessary suffering…I enjoyed my time at Trudeau park this year…but at no time did the notion that a young man had been viciously murdered there leave me….and I don’t know if I can ever go back..and not because of anything Casey or his staff did or didn’t do…because I’m afraid of people like the people who murdered a young man and stole him from those that love him for nothing. May he rest peacefully, God bless his family, girlfriend and mother…my thoughts are with you all.

  11. Trudeau Park ROCKS!!!!! says:

  12. nother K-Town girl says:

Well, actually, Brad’s family and gf can absolutely sue someone, they can sue the monsters (and thier families) who did this to Brad, as I’m sure they will down the road sometime. I can assure you that is probably the last thing they are thinking about at this moment. They are so overcome with greif, and shock, as are all their friends, and they have many, of losing Brad. Like everyone else who attended this event, these were a bunch of kids, who were so excited to go to this event, looking forward to the long weekend at Trudeau Park. To have this happen. . .Brad was a loving, caring, human being who was busy living and enjoying his life. I pray his family and friends somehow find the strength to make it through the horrific tragedy of losing Brad.

  13. Tammy Jeanneault-Fluke says:

    Gord,
Its not the parks fault its the people involved.. you can’t hold kevin and Trudeau’s responsible for 3 creeps who can’t be civilized.. we all lose to many venues because there has to be an ass in every group but every one else shouldn’t be left to suffer. And how can Kevin be resposible for a strangers action and if he is, that means every place where some one is killed the owner would be sued??? what the bar where some one was killed is resposible??? get real .. everyone would be sued there is a line Gord the killers are responsible not the person who owns the place where that person was killed .. if we are talking about who is responsible..Kevin sure didn’t make them do it!!!!!!

  14. A FREIND says:

To those cowards responsible for this death, I have a few things to say about your actions and for your future. First of all I hope that all responsible will be brought to justice and be given the maximum penalty for your stupid actions that took our dear friend away. Once you irresponsible goons who cant fight on your own get locked up , I wish your life behinds bars will be long and painful. Unfortunately, here in our country we do not have the death penalty , but you three disgusting wanna be tough guys are the perfect candidate for this penalty. There is absolutely no excuse for your actions, against a human being. Your three are ANIMALS!!!! If alcohol was a factor then maybe you kids should stay home and drink milk until you get old enough to handle your alcohol. To my understanding people go away on weekends to have a good time , with alcohol or not, we are all there to have a good time, you fools I guess missed that part. It goes to show you that these three didnt know what having a good time was. I wish all three of you are tortured once inside and are constantly assaulted until that day the whole country will dread to see and that would be your release date. Once you Animals are released into our population again, I hope all three of the cowards live a pathetic life. and remeber you guys were 19, 24 and 27….grow up !!! You will never be forgived for your actions , and will always be remebered for your actions….. I strongly believe these three idiots should be brought to the Air Canada Centre and be released into the publics hands and let true justice prevail…I m sure it would be a sold out event. Just imagine how would you three guys like 300 people puching and kicking you…..ROTT IN HELL !!! I’m sure everyone agrees with my statements……Brad , we will never forget you!!!! RIP !

  15. adam says:

HEY GORD I HAVE BEEN GOING TO TWEED FOR OVER 10 YEARS AND HAVE NEVER HAD A BAD EXPERIANCE ALL THE PEOPLE I HAVE MET OVER THE YEARS WOULD HELP ANYONE IN A SECOND IF THEY WERE HURT AND NEEDED HELP AND TO SUE TRUDEAU PARK OR HOLD THEM RESPONSIBLE THAT WOULD BE LIKE CHARGING THE GOVERNMENT FOR OWNING THE ROAD THAT SOMEONE GOT COUGHT ON DRINKING AND DRINKING , WHAT GORD THAT ROAD SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN THERE

  16. Sheri says:

Gord- You are a moron and clearly have never been to the park before. I have been to Trudeau Park the last 5 Victoria Day Weekends and I must say that the weekend is very well controlled. With volunteer fire fighters, security and St.John’s ambulance volunteers on site the Trudeaus have done everything they possibly could to make sure everyone is safe. You can’t blame them, the park or even the party for what happened. As unfortunate as it is- this kind of thing happens EVERYWHERE and for god only knows what reasons. Nobody goes to Trudeau Park hoping for a fight or looking for trouble- they go to have a good time. My heart and condolences go out to the loved ones of the deceased, and I hope that the guys who did this, get what they deserve. And I’ld like to say THANK YOU to the Trudeaus for giving me a safe and awesome place to party!! You guys are the best and I look forward to seeing you next year!

  17. Danny English says:

Sheri is they did everything possible to create a safe weekend they would of been able to stop a fight involving five people.

This wasn’t a riot, it was a fight and the lack of security is one of the main reasons this turned into a tragedy.

Trudeau Park should be shut down unless they can provide better security.

  18. $n0BzY says:

I go to Trudeau every year. I have a blast. Do I feel like it gets a little bit out of hand> Yes I do most definetely. Do I think that the security or staff has much control over what goes on there? Not that much. The owners are great people. The weekend is a blast. But its a MASSIVE PARTY and people get out of control. You can buy any drug you need and however much you want. You can drive drunk. Hell I accidentally fell out of a t ruck last year and almost got run over. My boyfriend also was mistaken for someone else last year and was beaten to a pulp and in both of these situations no one even noticed because it was to nuts. its fun but needs to be more controlled because it is dangerous. To many drunk people, high people, drunk drivers, fires and thugs. Something needs to change and for f*$% sakes STOP LETTING KIDS IN THE PARK. Childrens in strollers???? Beside a mud pit of drunk drivers in massive trucks? Your just asking for trouble.

  19. Deeds says:

If you dont like the way Trudeau Park is run, then dont go-bottom line.

  20. pickles says:

“If you dont like the way Trudeau Park is run, then dont go-bottom line.”

    Your missing the point.

You can really tell the age group or the educational skills some of these people have by the way they type in their posts.

  21. concerned says:

Trudeau Park is now trying to justify their actions and/or lack of actions and minimize their role and responsibility in the senseless and tragic death that occurred in their park.
Casey Trudeau is attempting to show an image of a responsible, concerned caring person. Where was this responsible, concerned caring person when he promoted, encouraged and allowed the conditions that create the risk for this type of incident to occur?
Where has this responsible, concerned caring person been over the past years when showing disregard for those living in the community being forced to deal with the noise, pollution and disruption to their lives?
As the old saying goes, “Your actions speak louder than your words” and your actions are not that of a responsible, concerned caring person.
One can only hope that something good can eventually come from such a tragic death either by Trudeau Park stepping up and doing the right thing and cancelling future events or by the victim’s family seeking legal counsel that will ensure that future events never take place.
Trudeau Park bears responsibility in this tragic death as they provide the venue and promote the event as a wild weekend with no restrictions. Past events and incidents are proof of this.
In addition, the Municipality of Tweed also bears responsibility as they continue to support these events knowing what occurs at these events and despite numerous complaints and concerns expressed from residents in the area.
Comments on facebook sites and comments from readers of online newspaper articles indicate that they are not surprised that this occurred as this type of event is a catalyst for disaster/tragedy.

  22. Deeds says:

Pickles, Give it up, I was referring to the post below mine.

  23. pickles says:

Deeds stfu, Brad was one of my best friends and I know Leah well. My friend was killed, MURDERED. Im not gonna give it up. You have no idea how much rage is boiling inside of me. Its was preventable. What are the reasons why this was unable to be prevented? Please explain!! You seem to know so much about the justice system, please respond, tell my why?

  24. Johnny says:

Thge park does get out of control, but the better question to ask is why do the police allow this to occur? Open drug selling and taking, is illegal regardless if it is on private property or not.
Owners of the park should be held responsible for allowing drunk driving on their property, for allowing blatant drug use on thier property.

  25. Cam says:

Well, here is my two cents.
Both my wife and I along with lots of freinds attended Tweed many many years in a row, many years ago. We come from an area that breathes and bleeds bush partying and four wheeling….We came from a very rough area. Tweed wasn’t so much a get away for us as it was always a home away from home for a few days. We partied harder and harder every passing year. This did start to change however, as we all got older. I noticed the younger generation coming with this more violent attitude to really want to fight. Now we used to fight and get black eyes…..but come on. Beat someone to death. That is the proof in the pudding about the way some of these punks act. This is where things have changed from even just 5-10 years ago. So what we would use for security then and what we need now is entirely different. I know the policing of the park has beefed up over the years but really how much? I think everyone needs to see that whenever a tragedy like this takes place, we all have to take another look at our preventative measures. I have lost quite a few freinds over my lifetime from partying and carrying on. I am no angel here….lol. Beleive me , I always rocked Tweed. Tweed is Always a Great Time. But all good things come to an end. Maybe not permanantly but maybe a year off might help things….let peole know that if you’re going f$#%#$k things up we won’t hold this anymore. Sometimes people don’t know how good they have it until its taken away.
    2 more points….
    1. To the family. From my family to yours ….our condolences go out to you. I hope time heals you all and the guilty f$%#$ks get whats coming to them. ;-I
    2. Park Owners/Operators , you’ve always done a wicked job. However, people are pissed. Many feel this could’ve been prevented. Taking away the privilige of this party from the people who don’t deserve it, sucks. But taking it away from the idiots that can’t handle this will show everyone you care.

    Cheers,
    Cam.

  26. Trudeau Friend says:

Ok… Before I say anything, My sincerest condolences and apologies to the family and friends of Brad this was truly a senseless act. Now to you Gord Fluke… What gives you the right to say “I hope this tragedy will shut the weekend party down for good This weekend bash has gotten way out of control. Far too many goons who have no respect for human life. I hope the family of the decease sue Mr Trudeau and the courts find him civilly responsible.” You quite obviously know absolutely NOTHING about this party or the Trudeau family! Yes the tragedy that occurred this past Victoria Day Weekend is truly sickening! Is it the blame of Casey ? No. Is it the blame of the park ? No. The guilt lies on the people that committed this disgusting and uncalled for crime. Has this party really gotten out of hand ?… Well for those of us that have gone for many many years, No, to be honest it’s Calmed down in my opinion. I have known Casey and most of his family for many years now, I’ve worked for his Father and his Uncle. I grew up with most of them. I know Casey and his family are sickened by all of this, the park has NEVER had something like this occur (I’ve worked there on many occasions) I’ve seen alot first hand. You cannot blame this tragedy on Casey or Trudeau’s Park they have never promoted violence in any way, shape, or form why would they ? It’s a party 99.99% of the time everything is taken care of, security is usually very diligent in breaking up any type of altercation and taking proper actions on the guilty party or parties.

  27. DD says:

what happened at trudeau this year was shocking to say the least. I feel terrible for brads family and friends. This man died over what?maybe he hit on somebodys gf, maybe he glanced at these fools “the wrong way”, maybe they got in an arguement about who the best hockey team is—who knows right. Some people are stupid when they drink and do drugs. Like how many times have you been to a party and a pointless fight breaks out??and whats it over -nothing?!!In my mind there is nothing this man could have done to deserve what he got. Its so sad. No matter where you go your going to have people like these guys who take things too far. Sueing the trudeaus is rediculous really. They are not responsible for these crazed locos actions. I mean are you going to sue the parents of these loons for not teaching them morals or even plain common sense??i think not. The people who need to be held responsible are the people who murdered this man. they will go to jail for what they did im sure(which is exactly what they dersevre and then some). dont let what these people did ruin a good time for everyone else.how many years has this been going on for and how many times has something like this happened??maybe next year beef up on serurity, throw more people out, laid down some rules but dont shut it down.ive personally never been to the partys i say every year im going to go but i have responsibilities that prevent me. all my friends go and say its the best time of their lives.i know theres drugs, drinking and driving etc. i hear its a gong show to be honest but holy sh*t everyone needs to party once in a while. dont let these knuckle heads ruin it for everyone.

  28. Friend02 says:

I just have something to say, if you don’t mind.
I am not going to try and be sarcastic or give any attitude. So please don’t take my comments as such.
I am a long time friend of Brad. It was a horrific thing that happend to him. No one who has ever been in a fight would have to agree that that is not the way they would want to be taken out of this world! Being terrified and in so much pain. He is in a good place now. Now he is with God.
To a certain extent the park is responsible. In my opinion, it is just the sad fact that this tragic event happened on their property. Waver or not. Yes, it could have happened anywhere. We all just have to deal with the circumstances at hand.
So many of us lost an amazing man who cared so much about others around him. He never showed anything but respect to us all.
Now, we were not all there at the time this happened. We can only make judgemnets and guesses on what happened by who we know and what we are told.
Everyone will jump in to defend those they know and love. It’s only human nature.
I fully believe that the parks’ owners are truly affected and saddened by these unfortunate events. Not just by Brad’s death. But buy many of the comments that are posted here. Please remember that ALL of your actions (whether written or spoken) affect others.
I hope that the park will take the steps to increase security and surveilance of their property. I wish them well in any attemps to aquire a good reputation of the park to go with their good name.
To the families of the ones responsible for Brad’s untimely death. I am sorry for the persicution you will get for the actions of these grown adults. They made the CHOICE to beat a man to death, not you!
To the cowards who sensously beat our dear friend into an early grave. I hope that you are all sentenced to the fullest extent of the law! It may be the only thing that will save your lives in return. You are the ones’ who have to live with what you have done. I truly hope that you understand what you have done. No one has the right to take the life of someone else. You are NOT God!!
To the family and friends of our dear friend. I am so sorry for the loss that we are all having to share! He was an amazing man!! Please remember that he is with our Father now. He is watching us and how we are dealing with his departure. He would not want us to spout blame on those who don’t deserve it. Don’t develope a mass mob mentality. We are all hurting. Please remember him in the light that we all saw in him.
For anyone else reading this, please rememeber that the one’s who should be punished are those who committed the crime. The park needs to figure out how they can make the park a safer place.
Those of you who will continue to go to camp here, please remember that you are there to camp, have fun and let off steam, yes. But the key words are camp and fun. That dosen’t mean, to get rowdy and start fights. There are other people there you need to think about. Families and children who are trying to have fun too. If you have no respect for others and your surroundings, don’t ruin it for the rest of us. Stay home.

Pickles, in your post below where you stated that you were able to identify the educational skills of other posters by the way they typed, I wanted to point out that in your statement “Your missing the point” you should have used “You’re” (as a short form of You are) vs “Your” which is possessive.

Great post, That has nothing to do with the tragic situation. The person murdered was my friend. Mind your own business, i knew Brad and know Leah. And why are you commenting on this article?
