Armed Robbery In Colborne

No reported injuries after an armed robbery in Colborne last night.
Northumberland O-P-P say it happened just after 11pm at the Mac’s convenience store.
They say a lone man entered the store with a knife and made off with a small amount of cash.
The suspect is described as 5 foot 9 with a slim build… he was last seen wearing a black ski jacket, jeans, and a ski mask… and was headed westbound on King Street.
The O-P-P K-9 unit was called in but unable to locate the suspect.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Northumberland O-P-P.
Weapons Bust For Quinte West Cops
A big find of dangerous materials by police in Trenton yesterday.
Quinte West O-P-P were called around 4:00 yesterday afternoon… after unknown suspects dumped a car on Herman Street and took off running.
When officers popped the trunk… they found a stash of ammo, long knives, loose needles, and tools.
Police are looking for the suspects and the investigation continues.
Youth Struck By Vehicle
Quinte West O-P-P are looking for more information on a hit and run incident in Trenton this afternoon.
It happened just after noon when police say.. a dark blue minivan turned onto South Trent Street without stopping at a red light… and struck an un-named youth… knocking him to the ground.
The youth suffered minor injuries… and police are looking for the driver.

Police Say Brighton Woman Was Murdered
The results are in from a post-mortem conducted on the body of a military flight attendant from C-F-B Trenton.
38 year old Marie-Frances Comeau’s body was found in her Brighton home Wednesday afternoon… and police say her death is now being investigated as a homicide.
O-P-P say no further details on the cause of death will be released… as to protect the integrity of the investigation.
Police say there is no current safety risk to the public… but they are looking for more information on the case.

Nurse Practitioner Clinic Coming To Belleville
After two years of lobbying the province….Belleville is getting a Nurse Practioner led clinic. Tammy Armstrong has been one of the driving forces behind the proposal and says Health Minister Deb Matthews announced the clinic for Belleville this afternoon. Armstrong says they’re very excited to bring a new model of care to the city and additional healthcare services to 43-hundred patients who don’t have a primary healthcare provider. The location hasn’t been chosen yet.
OPP Involved in 4-0-1 Standoff near Trenton
Provincial Police were involved in a standoff on the 4-0-1 near Trenton this morning….but, no other information has been released. Officers with guns drawn approached another vehicle in the eastbound lanes just east of the Glen Miller Road at about 11 o’clock this morning. Callers say eastbound traffic was held up for a while. OPP confirm there was a traffic stop….but, no other details have been released.
More Affordable Housing for Belleville
Senior governments announced twenty new affordable housing units for Belleville today. MP Daryl Kramp, MPP Leona Dombrowsky and other municipal politicians were on hand to announce the 2.4 million dollar investment at 185 Cannifton Road. MP Kramp says during these tough economic times they’re committed to giving hope to seniors who need quality, affordable housing with Canada’s Economic Action Plan. Hastings County Warden Ron Emond says there are still 1300 households on their wait list. and MPP Dombrowsky says the provincial government will continue to work with municipal partners to ensure more units are built.
Men From Perth and Ohio Killed on Highway-7
The O-P-P have released the names of two people who died in a head-on collision on highway seven, west of Kaladar.
Police say two S-U-V’s crashed into each other shortly after eight o’clock last night, killing 55-year-old Peter Clark of Clyde, Ohio, and 33-year-old Michael Garland of the Perth area.
A nine-year-old girl was removed by firefighters from Garland’s vehicle and is in critical condition in Kingston General Hospital. A 32-year-old London man in the same vehicle is in Belleville Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The investigation into the cause of the accident, which happened while it was raining and the pavement was wet, is continuing.
Electors of Prince Edward County hopes O-M-B ruling goes in its favour
The Electors of Prince Edward County is feeling good after eight and a half days of an Ontario Municipal Board Hearing in Picton.
The Electors appealed county council’s decision earlier this year to leave any decision about reducing the number of councillors and cutting the number of wards until a referendum in next year’s election..
Electors Co-chair Jim McPherson says he believes the hearing, which ended yesterday, was fair, and he’s looking forward to the chairperson’s ruling.
The chair will have to release her decision soon because any change to next year’s municipal election will have to be made by the end of December.. The Electors wants to reduce the number of councillors from 15 to 12, and the number of wards from ten to six.
Another suspect arrested in Deseronto, while police discover seized stolen property came from Belleville, Picton and Deseronto
A drug bust in Deseronto has led to a break for police investigating breakins and thefts in Belleville and other local communities..
Three people were arrested by the O-P-P after a marijuana grow operation, cocaine and thousands of dollars worth of stolen property were found at a home on Mill Street on November 18th.
A fourth person, 29-year-old Michael McKeown of no fixed address, has since been arrested, and faces numerous charges, including six counts of possession of stolen property and drug offences.
Police now say some of the property recovered came from a 127-thousand-dollar breakin in at Sam the Record Man in Quinte Mall last summer, Small World Baby, Foxboro I-G-A, Richard Davis in Picton and residential breakins in Belleville, Picton and Deseronto.
