It’s late August but Belleville Council will be looking ahead to Christmas when it meets this afternoon. Controversy erupted, during the last holiday period, when city staff didn’t put up the christmas display at Tom Gavey Alemite Park in the east-end because of its deteriorating condition. but, after public outcry…the Foster family display was installed. Council decided they would re-examine the display and 75-thousand dollars was set aside at budget time to buy a new display. Staff is recommending the new lights be installed at the Market Square area behind city hall in late November this year.
