A Belleville Secondary School teacher has won the the Governor General’s Award for Excellence in Teaching Canadian History.
Joe Stafford, who teaches at St. Theresa Catholic Secondary School, will receive the award at a ceremony at Ottawa’s Rideau Hall on November 17th. He is one of six recipients.
Joe Stafford is being recognized for his innovative interactive teaching of Canadian history. Examples are his encouraging students to re-enact the Diamond Jubilee of Confederation under the government of Mackenzie King.
